Another senior leader that was expected to step up for the Longhorns throughout Big 12 play is the former converted safety and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. The 6-foot-4 and 220-pound Overshown has done anything but that since the start of Big 12 play. Overshown ran into an unfortunate string of events in the last few weeks leading up to where he’s at now.

It all started going wrong for Overshown when he suffered a concussion against Oklahoma State. That actually led to a breakout game from sophomore linebacker Jaylan Ford. And while Overshown was starting for the Longhorns in the loss to Baylor, he didn’t make much of a positive impact.

Texas needs Overshown to be someone that is able to cover ground sideline-to-sideline and make plays to stop the run and at least play decently well in coverage assignments. But Overshown just wasn’t really noticeable in the loss to Baylor. He registered just four combined tackles, along with two missed tackles, but did have one pass breakup against Baylor.

Since the loss to Oklahoma, Overshown has five missed tackles to 14 combined tackles, seven stops, two tackles for loss, and one sack. That’s not the worst stat line, but he just hasn’t made the impact he did at the outset of the season. Two of the three worst defensive grades on the season for Overshown came in the last three games.

The good news here is that Overshown likely could have the quickest turnaround of any player on this list. Watch out for him to have a potential bounce-back game this weekend against Iowa State.
