Texas Football: Rece Davis trolls Longhorns on College Gameday
With all that is going on with the Texas football program right now on and off the field, there is plenty of headlines to talk about on the Forty Acres of late. New Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has so much going on that it is also pretty hard to digest all of it. This includes the off-the-field saga surrounding new special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and his significant other from Halloweekend.
On ESPN College Gamday on the morning of Nov. 6, host Rece Davis took his shot at Sark, Banks, and the Longhorns with a joke about “Pole Assassin” ahead of Texas’ meeting with the Iowa State Cyclones on this night. Texas is set to face Iowa State in Ames on the night of Nov. 6, and the College Gameday crew was giving their predictions and takes on both programs.
More so than anything else, Davis took a shot at the Longhorns thanks to all that is going on of late surrounding the program. He mentioned the Longhorns three-game losing streak, the “Pole Assassin” situation with Banks and his significant other, and all of the general drama with the players and coaching staff.
Rece Davis bashes Texas football on College Gameday
All of the letdowns for the Longhorns this fall have amounted to what feels like a lost season at this point on the Forty Acres. Texas has lost three straight by coughing up double-digit leads at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Baylor Bears.
All of those saw Texas collapse in the second half and lose three games essentially in devastating fashion each time.
This statement by Davis definitely caught fire around social media too. It’s easy to poke fun at the Longhorns right now, and hopefully that all ends with Texas upsetting Iowa State on the road this weekend.
Texas carries a record of 4-4 (2-3 Big 12) into this meeting with 5-3 (3-2 Big 12) Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Nov. 6. Sark and the Longhorns are underdogs in this game, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. CT.
