Bijan Robinson still can’t do it all

It’s crazy that on yet another day where the Longhorns were too overreliant on star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson to be the lone source of offense, he came up with an impressive performance against the stout and experienced Iowa State defense. It’s just unfortunate that the stud 6-foot and 215-pound rusher had to leave this game in the second half with an apparent injury.

This is ever more proof for the Longhorns that they need to get the ball to some of the other talented blue-chip skill position players in this offense. Get the likes of junior running back Roschon Johnson, redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson, freshman Jonathon Brooks, true freshman wideout Worthy, etc. more involved. Redshirt junior wide receiver Joshua Moore also had his moments in this game after a crazy week for him in practice.

Nonetheless, Bijan finished up this game with 90 rushing yards on 18 carries (five yards per carry), no rushing touchdowns, and 36 receiving yards on eight catches (4.5 yards per catch). Bijan had seven total missed tackles forced in this game, no drops, and five first downs. That’s not to mention his impressive 67 yards after initial contact and decent blocking grade.

Bijan is going to need help in this offense, there’s no question. The same could be said for the likes of Worthy and the currently-injured redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jordan Whittington. There were some missed throws to Worthy in this game, including one where Card missed him on a deep pass that could’ve changed the narrative here.
