Potential in the 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes

All eyes will be on how the Longhorns 2022 recruiting class can round out ahead of the Early Signing Period in the weeks ahead. That will also feed in to how the 2023 class can get off the ground in the coming weeks and months.

Texas now has their first commit in the 2023 class in place in the four-star Arlington-Seguin safety Jamel Johnson. And the top target for the Longhorns 2023 class is well in the sights of the coaching staff in the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. It’s clear at this point that Manning is the top recruiting target in general at this point for Sark and the Longhorns.

But not too far behind the Louisiana native Manning in terms of top recruiting targets for the Longhorns in any cycle is the five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver and former Texas commit Evan Stewart. Texas really needs to go all out to land a commitment from Stewart. But the rival Texas A&M Aggies are fast approaching on Texas to challenge for Stewart’s pledge when it’s all said and done.

Land a commitment from either Stewart or Manning, and Sark will have a big win under his belt on the recruiting trail. If he’s able to get commitments from both, then he will truly have some elite recruiting classes in the making.

Other key targets to watch for the 2022 class ahead of the Early Signing Period are five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell, five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris, and four-star St. John Bosco interior offensive lineman Earnest Greene.

In the 2023 class, watch out for the likes of Manning, four-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook, five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens, and five-star Langham Creek wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway are some names to watch.
