On a big day for the 2022 Texas basketball and new head coach Chris Beard to be able to sign two elite five-star prospects during the Early Signing Period is very notable. There wasn’t a whole lot of action in terms of actual commitments around the Big 12 hoops landscape on Nov. 10. But Texas was able to lock in their two 2022 commits by signing each’s National Letter of Intent.

The two commits that Beard and the Longhorns were able to sign on Nov. 10, during the Early Signing Period, were five-star Dallas-Kimball point guard Arterio Morris and five-star Montverde Academy small forward Dillon Mitchell. This was a solid duo for the Longhorns to get signed down in the 2022 class.

Texas basketball could push to land one more commit in the 2022 class after the Early Signing Period

But there is also the downside to what we’ve seen from this recruiting cycle for Beard and the Longhorns. Texas did miss out on some of the top targets they had locked in on in the 2022 class. Some of the bigger names in that regard include five-star Richardson combo guard Cason Wallace, five-star iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy shooting guard Keyonte George, and five-star Sierra Canyon power forward Kijani Wright.

Nonetheless, we have to focus on the positive from here on out for Beard and the Longhorns on the recruiting trail. Plus, there could still be one more commit potentially on the way for this group.

There’s no one clear-cut target for the Longhorns 2022 class at this point. Landing Morris and Mitchell locked in on the two top remaining targets outside the Kentucky Wildcats commit Wallace.

Here’s a look into three 2022 prospects that could commit to the Longhorns 2022 class post-Early Signing Period.
