There’s not as much on the line this weekend for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program compared to the last few. Texas gets a prime shot to snap their four-game losing streak at home on the night of Nov. 13, as they get set to take on head coach Lance Leipold and the lowly Kansas Jayhawks. This is the best shot that Texas will have for the rest of the regular season to move one step closer to at least becoming bowl eligible.

Honestly, it’s tough to still say that at this point of the season for the Longhorns after there was so much hope and excitement out of the gates for Sark.

Nonetheless, Texas needs to convert on two fronts this weekend. First and foremost, Texas needs to get a convincing win over Kansas to generate some type of confidence and momentum heading into the final two games of the regular season. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the Longhorns have to beat the Jayhawks by 80.

But there does need to be a solid showing this weekend where the Longhorns look good on both sides of the ball. That will theoretically give Texas enough momentum to have a chance to get through the last two games of the regular season unscathed. The last two games are set to come against the West Virginia Mountaineers and Kansas State Wildcats.

The second thing that needs to happen for the Longhorns this weekend involves having a good connection with the vast list of visitors that are also key targets of their 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes. That can help Texas generate some momentum on the recruiting trail in the few weeks we have before the Early Signing Period arrives.

With all of that in mind, here’s a look into three reasons why the Longhorns will decimate the Jayhawks on Nov. 13.
