Texas Football: 3 reasons the Longhorns will decimate Kansas
It is finally Keilan Robinson’s time to shine
If you had to ask any Longhorns fan which player was the most underutilized to this point of the season, they would likely tell you either junior running back Roschon Johnson or redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson. Roschon and Keilan are very talented running backs that just didn’t get utilized enough throughout the Big 12 slate thus far.
Keilan especially should be utilized more often. He’s one of the most explosive and speedy running backs in the Big 12. His speed in the open field is dangerous. This weapon should be taken advantage of more often, and it’s surprising that Sark hasn’t used him more given how he’s infamous for scheming these types of skill position players open with room to run.
However, it’s not like there’s a complete lack of reasoning for the lack of usage of Keilan and Roschon this fall.
The lack of rhythm and overall production in the passing game of late for the Texas offense has led to the imbalance of lack of yardage for the ground game. Star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson can’t get anything going if the offensive line isn’t getting a good push in front of him and if the passing game isn’t opening anything up for him otherwise.
With Bijan and Roschon both dealing with some day-to-day injuries this week, we should see a much heavier workload out of the backfield for the likes of Keilan and freshman running back Jonathon Brooks. In the last five weeks, Keilan only has four touches in the ground game and five in the receiving game. His chance to shine is about to come and Kansas does not have the speed on defense to contain him.
The same could be said for breakthrough freshman wide receiver Xavier Worthy against this Kansas defense this weekend.
