Texas Football: 5 overreactions from the unbelievable OT loss to Kansas
Lack of offensive production has killed the season for Bijan Robinson
You could either say its because of a true lack of balance or a high level of predictability, but the Longhorns have clearly lost their edge on the ground. Texas came into this season with what appeared to be one of the most talented and deep backfields not just in the Big 12, but in the entire country.
A trio of running backs that includes star sophomore Bijan Robinson, junior Roschon Johnson, and former Alabama transfer/redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson looked to be very potent for this offense. And the start that Bijan got off to for the Longhorns this fall highlighted just how good this ground game can be.
But in the last few weeks, Bijan’s production has dipped sizably. Part of that is due to the fact that he’s played through some nagging injuries. And another part of that is the fact that this offense has really lacked balance and solid offensive line play through the main stretch of the Big 12 slate.
The last three weeks or Bijan were also three of his lowest offensive and rushing grades of his career to date. He was clearly one of the nation’s best and most productive running backs early this season.
Oh what a poor offense and a lack of smart play calling can do to a running back like Bijan.
In the loss to the Jayhawks, Bijan registered 70 rushing yards, around five yards per carry, no rushing touchdowns, just shy of 50 receiving yards, and one touchdown catch.
Just let this fact soak in, Bijan has one drop, three fumbles, and no rushing touchdowns in the last two games.
