Texas Football: Finebaum laughs at Longhorns after loss to Kansas
The fallout from the loss for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program at the hands of first-year head coach Lance Leipold and the lowly Kansas Jayhawks over the weekend will likely continue for a long time. Losing to Kansas is not something that settles overnight. In fact, people are still talking about how former Texas head coach Charlie Strong lost to Kansas to cap the 2016 season.
Not only did that loss for Strong to the Jayhawks roughly five years ago leave a mark on the Longhorns for good, it essentially was the nail in the coffin for his tenure on the Forty Acres.
Moreover, the media reaction to this loss to the Jayhawks was swift and pretty savage at times. It’s hard to exactly pinpoint one particular are to blame for this loss. Losing to Kansas doesn’t just happen because of one thing for a team that has as much talent and depth as the Longhorns do.
Paul Finebaum sends a shot to Texas football after the bad loss to Kansas
Noted SEC media personality Paul Finebaum reportedly sent a shot the Longhorns’ way following this bad loss to Kansas on the night of Nov. 13 at home at DKR. Finebaum actually didn’t send any blame Sark’s way for this loss to Kansas. He put more blame to former Texas head coach Tom Herman in his take on this loss to Kansas than he did to Sark.
If you ask me, that is not a good take on the matter.
But personal opinion aside, Finebaum did bring up the Longhorns’ future move from the Big 12 to the SEC and how difficult that could be for this program. He mentioned that the Vanderbilt Commodores will essentially love that the Longhorns are coming over to the SEC so they can have a shot at another win in conference play in the future.
All of this laughing at the Longhorns is something that is going to wear on the fan base and with good reason. Losing to Kansas just should not happen. But this is the reality now for Texas.
Following this 57-56 overtime loss to the Jayhawks over the weekend, Sark and the Longhorns own a record of 4-6 (2-5 Big 12) and now sit on a five-game losing streak. Next up for the Longhorns is a road meeting with the West Virginia Mountaineers on Nov. 20.
