Texas Football: 3 commits Sarkisian could get soon despite the losing skid
There was a very real fear that the poor results on the field for late for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his squad could translate to some detriment on the trail for the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes. Namely, this seemed like terrible timing for Sark to start losing games in bunches.
Granted, there was never really a good time for Sark and the Longhorns to establish the longest losing streak for this program since the 1950s. Not to mention the fact that losing to head coach Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks just looks like a flat-out terrible look for the Longhorns.
The leading indicators right now are that there could be some loss of key targets on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns thanks to this long losing streak, but it likely won’t be as bad as expected. Fixing culture issues and establishing new, and seemingly more proficient (at least in the eyes of prospective recruits), schemes are something that is still catching the eyes of top targets.

As we draw very close to the beginning of the Early Signing Period next month, the Longhorns will be able to put this theory to the test. Many of the top targets of the Longhorns 2022 class are likely set to announce their decisions during the Early Signing Periods.
Texas also definitely has ample time to figure things out on the recruiting trail before decision time arrives for a number of their top 2023 targets.
Nonetheless, here’s a look into three key targets on the recruiting trail that Sark and the Longhorns could still soon land despite this terrible five-game losing streak.
