Texas Football: Predicting 5 players that could transfer next
There is all of a sudden a conversation hitting more abruptly than most figured this fall for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program with two games still remaining during the regular season. But it essentially feels as if the offseason has already arrived for Texas. This team now suddenly has a focus on the roster attrition and any potential staff turnover that could take place during the looming 2022 offseason.
With the news dropping from Sark on Nov. 15 that the Longhorns will be missing star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson for the rest of the season, it almost feels like a lost cause for this team to even get bowl eligible. That is a nearly unbelievable thought after Sark was speaking of aspirations to make it to the Big 12 Championship Game for an eventual Red River rematch with head coach Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners just last month.
Who could be next to hit the transfer portal from the Texas football program?
But that narrative shifted in the blink of an eye as Texas has found zero success in the win column since the first game last month. Texas only has triumphed over the TCU Horned Frogs and Texas Tech Red Raiders in Big 12 play this season. The team now sits on a five-game losing streak, which is the program’s longest since the 1950s.
And the fact that the Longhorns extended this losing streak to five games due to a loss to the Kansas Jayhawks in overtime over the weekend makes it all worse somehow.
In his Monday press conference, Sark talked of the possibility of roster attrition come next offseason. And with three former blue-chip recruits for the Longhorns already in the NCAA Transfer Portal this fall, it brings about the conversation of who could be next to go.
Here’s a look into five Longhorns players that could soon enter the transfer portal for various reasons ahead of next offseason.
