There was a clear opportunity for a host of new wide receivers to make their way up the depth chart this fall in the midst of some key injuries and departures since the summer. Some of the more experienced wideouts on the roster also had a shot to make a bigger impact than ever before this fall.

Two names that come to mind in this regard are a pair of junior wideouts that were signed under Herman’s regime in Marcus Washington and Al’Vonte Woodard. But it was the former of those two that was able to make his way up the wide receiver depth chart in the midst of the departure of fellow junior wideout Joshua Moore this fall and the injury to redshirt sophomore Jordan Whittington.

While Washington has come up with a campaign where he’s registered more than 250 receiving yards and two touchdown catches with his newfound opportunity, Woodard’s snap counts have diminished. Woodard went from getting roughly 115 snaps during his freshman campaign to more than 250 last fall.

But that all turned into barely over 50 snaps so far for the Longhorns this season. There clearly isn’t something connecting between Woodard and the Longhorns’ new coaching staff this fall. Despite the return of wide receivers coach Andre Coleman this season, Woodard is still not making a big impact in this receiving corps. A former top 100 recruit during the 2018 recruiting cycle might try to take his talents elsewhere to get a fresh start before too long.
