The most experienced and productive Longhorns’ player on this list that could be a name to watch as someone that could soon explore his transfer options is the former four-star recruit and junior safety Chris Adimora. Few players saw their role decline as much on the defensive side of the ball for the Longhorns as Adimora.

Seemingly nothing has worked well on a consistent basis for new co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski at the safety position this fall. Adimora didn’t get much of a shot to make an impact compared to the likes of freshman safety Jerrin Thompson, senior former wide receiver Brenden Schooler, and senior B.J. Foster.

But Adimora had consistency issues in the past, and that could be something that is holding back this new coaching staff from giving him more reps as this season moves along.

To give you an idea of how much Adimora’s role diminished this fall, despite poor safety play in front of him on the depth chart, just look at how his snap counts have dropped compared to the prior two seasons. Adimora had nearly 1,000 snaps on defense and special teams combined in 2019 and 2020. So far this season, he’s barely over 100 snaps between defense and special teams.

If Adimora does put his name in the transfer portal entering next offseason, he should be one of the more valued safeties on the open market. During his three years playing for Texas, he’s registered 60 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and seven pass breakups.
