The idea that new Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian was going to have to hit the NCAA Transfer Portal hard again during the 2022 offseason was never a foreign concept. But it is now likely going to be one of the major overarching storylines entering next offseason.

With how much roster attrition could be just around the corner for Sark and the Longhorns entering next offseason, the transfer portal will play a major role in the makeup of the roster for the 2022 season. The idea now is that the Longhorns could have nearly half of the key portion of their roster made up of new signees and transfer portal additions.

Who Steve Sarkisian and Texas football should contact in the transfer portal this fall

At the moment, Sark and the Longhorns are sitting on a five-game losing streak. Following the tragically-embarrassing overtime loss at home last weekend at the hands of head coach Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks, Texas is really reeling and trying to right the ship for his program.

It is clear at this point that change is on the horizon for Texas. Sark needs to bring in more players that fit the culture and scheme he’s trying to instill on the Forty Acres. And despite the five-game losing streak and a terrible loss to the Jayhawks, Texas is very likely going to roll with Sark and this staff for a couple of years.

Texas has to figure this one out and build out the program from the ground up. Expectations that Sark can immediately make Texas a Big 12 Championship/College Football Playoff contender are obviously out the window now.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three transfer portal targets that the Longhorns should already be in contact with this fall.
