How to watch Texas vs. West Virginia: TV, live stream, game time, pick
In a game where the chances for Texas football and new head coach Steve Sarkisian to reach bowl eligibility this fall are on life support on the road in Morgantown against the West Virginia Mountaineers, this team needs a win to stay alive in this regard. Texas can at least stay alive in the path to get bowl eligible with a win over West Virginia this weekend.
Sark and the Longhorns need to show something in this meeting with West Virginia, but it won’t come easy. The Longhorns are coming off that poor and embarrassing loss in overtime last weekend at the hands of head coach Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks, by the final score of 58-57.
It was that two-point conversion that lifted the Jayhawks over the Longhorns in the end. And now is the time for the Longhorns to show some type of life as only two games remain during a tough Big 12 slate for this team.
Following last weekend’s embarrassing loss to the Jayhawks, the Longhorns come into this meeting with West Virginia sporting a record of 4-6 (2-5 Big 12).
Meanwhile, West Virginia is coming off a pair of convincing losses in the last two weekends at the hands of the Kansas State Wildcats and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Last weekend’s loss on the road at the hands of head coach Chris Klieman and Kansas State moved West Virginia to an identical record to the Longhorns’ on the season at 4-6 (2-5 Big 12).
West Virginia is roughly a 2.5-point favorite coming into this matchup against the Longhorns. And the ESPN matchup predictor (based on the Football Power Index) gives Texas roughly a 56 percent chance to beat West Virginia on the road this weekend.
Here’s a look at the live stream, kick-off time, pick for the game, and more as Texas takes on West Virginia on the road in Morgantown to attempt to snap their five-game losing streak.

Injured Texas football players
The injury news was very bleak for Sark and the Longhorns this week, outside of one key returning player for this matchup against West Virginia. Texas is set to miss senior cornerback Josh Thompson and sophomore star running back Bijan Robinson for the rest of the regular season.
Freshman running back Jonathon Brooks is also set to be out week-to-week too.
Bijan suffered an injury in the loss to Kansas on Nov. 13 that will cause him to miss the rest of the season. That means a lot more reps for the running back duo of junior Roschon Johnson and redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson on Nov. 20. But Bijan is clearly a huge loss for the Longhorns for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Thompson is also a sizable loss for the Longhorns in the secondary. Texas is likely to see more of either sophomore cornerback Kitan Crawford or senior Darion Dunn starting opposite of senior D’Shawn Jamison in this game in the absence of Thompson.
The good news here for the Longhorns in the injury department is the fact that they are likely set to get redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jordan Whittington back against West Virginia. Whittington originally suffered a clavicle injury in the loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game last month.
It is big to get Whittington back to get another threat at the skill positions outside of freshman breakthrough wideout Xavier Worthy.
Picking Texas football vs. West Virginia
Two major factors for the Longhorns in this game will be the offense dealing with the loss of Bijan. Redshirt junior quarterback Casey Thompson will be one of the players responsible for sparking this offense in the absence of Bijan, as he gets the start over sophomore Hudson Card this weekend.
The second big factor to watch here is how the defense responds to such a bad outing where they let up 49 points to Kansas in regulation in last weekend’s loss. Thompson is out for the season and Texas needs to come up big against an experienced West Virginia offense led by quarterback Jarret Doege and running back Leddie Brown.
