Texas Football: 3 seniors the Longhorns should want back in 2022
As new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program head into the road finale in this regular season slate this weekend, there is a very heavy emphasis being placed on potential roster turnovers next offseason. Sark has made it known that this roster is likely going to look a lot different in 2022.
This almost feels like a necessity if Sark and the Longhorns want to right the ship next fall. Instilling a new culture and scheme that fits his coaching staff and vision for the program means that Sark needs to find the right players both on the recruiting trail and out of the NCAA Transfer Portal heading into next offseason.
Yet, that doesn’t necessarily mean that every single one of the Longhorns’ current starters should be moved out next year. Texas still has some upperclassmen that are positive contributors on this team that would be welcomed back with open arms next year.
Which defensive players Texas football should want back in 2022?
Sark and his staff know which players aren’t bought into the direction that the program is currently headed in. Let those players go through the transfer portal and find a better fit for them moving forward.
It seems like the side of the ball that Texas will have the greatest emphasis on getting right next year will be defense. Texas has a number of upperclassmen and former transfer additions that line the two-deep this fall. Some of those upperclassmen should be welcomed back next year too, even if they’re technically a senior this year.
Here’s a look into three Longhorns’ seniors that should be welcomed back next year.
