There is a reason why I want to talk about some of the former Texas football players that entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and are finding success this fall around the college football landscape now. And that reason is that new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff can learn something from the success that a lot of these former Texas transfers are finding elsewhere.

That is especially true due to the fact that Sark and the Longhorns are now sitting on a six-game losing streak in the midst of a pretty disastrous season. Texas is bound to turn to the transfer portal to find a lot of help for this coaching staff to retool the roster next offseason. Roster attrition is bound to be a bigger theme of next offseason than it was last for Sark and his staff.

Is there anyone Texas football wants back in hindsight that left via the transfer portal?

Texas had a lot of movement in the transfer portal throughout the last two or three offseasons, and that is likely to continue next offseason. In fact, the next offseason might be the busiest in the transfer portal ever for the Longhorns program.

The tone of Sark’s voice when talking about the transfer portal in press conferences of late shows just how much movement could be ahead next offseason. It is interesting to take a look back at which former Longhorns transferred where, and how much success they’re having now. That includes some of the transfers that left for other schools since former Texas head coach Tom Herman was let go last offseason.

Here’s a look into five former Longhorn transfers finding the most success elsewhere in 2021.
