A day of mixed news in relation to the 2022 Texas football recruiting class could lead to some additional drama on the trail in the weeks ahead of the Early Signing Period. After landing essentially a re-commitment from the touted four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, there is also news about a potential de-commitment in the 2022 recruiting class.

There are leading indicators in place now that the Longhorns could soon be losing the commitment of the talented four-star Tyler Legacy running back Jamarion Miller. The 5-foot-10 and 195-pound running back is one of the highest-rated commits in the Longhorns 2022 class at the moment, but the Alabama Crimson Tide are putting a full-court press on him of late.

Ironically, one of the Alabama assistants leading the charge to flip the commitment of Miler from the Longhorns is the former Texas cornerbacks coach Jay Valai. It is Valai and running backs coach Robert Gillespie that are the top recruiters after Miller from the Alabama side.

Thanks to some of the heightened efforts on the recruiting trail from Valai and Gillespie of late, the Crimson Tide are now trending to flip the commitment of Miller from the Longhorns.

The three most recent expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions put in for Miller have his commitment now trending to land with Alabama. And all of these expert Crystal Ball Predictions were put in on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25.

Texas football could soon see 4-Star RB Jamarion Miller flip to Alabama

Jason Suchomel of OrangeBloods (Texas’ Rivals site, paid content) also provided an update on Nov. 25 that Alabama is now looking more and more likely to flip the commitment of Miller from Texas.

Alabama was an emerging challenger for Texas to retain Miller’s commitment this fall. He had what looked like a very successful official visit with the Crimson Tide back on Oct. 23. And Alabama worked to continue building the relationship with Miller since then.

When Alabama places this level of priority with a blue-chip running back like Miller, it’s always going to be considered a relevant threat.

It will be interesting to see what other dominos fall in this saga of Alabama trending to flip the commitment of Miller. But for now, it looks like Texas could soon be losing the commitment of Miller.

If Texas does wind up losing Miller to Alabama, it would put them down to one running back in the 2022 class. Texas’ other running back commit in the 2022 class is the four-star Klein Cain product Jaydon Blue.
