The one former Longhorns’ commit on this list that has yet to find what looks to be another firm landing spot as of yet is the elite five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver, Evan Stewart. There still looks to be a shot for Sark and the Longhorns to eventually get the commitment of Stewart back to the Forty Acres ahead of National Signing Day 2022.

But Texas is now really trending in the right direction with the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex native of late. It looks like head coach Jimbo Fisher and the in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies hold most of the momentum with Stewart in the last month or two.

The six-game losing streak for Sark and the Longhorns that was finally snapped in the win over Kansas State on Nov. 26. might’ve had a bigger impact (in a negative sense) with Stewart than any other key prospect down the stretch. Texas needed to show Stewart that he could find a winner right away with this program. And Texas did anything but that in the last two months.

Texas definitely still has a shot with Stewart, but it won’t come easy to them. They really do need to do their best to get the commitment back from their top-ranked target in the 2022 class. He ranks as the nation’s No. 4 2022 high school prospect, and the top overall wide receiver and prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

If Texas does land a commitment from someone like four-star Klein Cain wide receiver Matthew Golden or four-star Louisiana product Shazz Preston, they will be fine. But it’s not going to be easy to get two blue-chip wideouts to sign in the 2022 class after losing the commitment of Winfield on Nov. 26.
