To round out the regular season, new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program are set to take on head coach Chris Klieman and the improved Kansas State Wildcats. Texas comes into this game theoretically with a shot at getting bowl eligible by route of the academic progress rate with five wins. But doesn’t that seem like a way to get to bowl eligibility that no Texas fan wanted to see?

Anyway, Sark and the Longhorns do come into this meeting with Kansas State at home to round out the regular season with a pretty hefty injury report. Ahead of kick-off between the Longhorns and Wildcats, Sark announced that there would be two more injury absences on top of an already lengthy list.

Texas is reportedly now set to also miss the likes of sophomore quarterback Hudson Card and senior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown against Kansas State. Both Card and Overshown were considered to be game-time decisions coming into Black Friday. But it looks like both of them will now officially miss the regular season finale.

Texas football will reportedly be without DeMarvion Overshown and Hudson Card vs. Kansas State

Overshown being out means that Texas is going to be missing both of their usual starting linebackers. Junior linebacker Luke Brockermeyer suffered a lower-body injury in practice this week and is out for this game.

This means we will see sophomore linebacker Jaylan Ford and redshirt sophomore David Gbenda starting in place of the injured Overshown and Brockermeyer.

Moreover, Card suffered an ankle injury in Texas’ loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers on the road last weekend. He was also assumed to be a game-time decision. But now that he is out, redshirt junior quarterback Casey Thompson will get the start in his place.

We will also see a former walk-on at quarterback, Ben Ballard, in the backup spot for the first time in his career.
