3 transfer landing spots for former Texas LB Ayodele Adeoye
The latest news concerning the NCAA Transfer Portal for the Texas football program revolves around the former four-star recruit and redshirt junior linebacker Ayodele Adeoye. For the second time since January 2021, Adeoye put his name in the transfer portal. The last time that Adeoye did that, he would return to the Forty Acres a few months later in the summer.
This is the second notable loss of a former blue-chip recruit to the transfer portal for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff in the last few weeks. The other came when the Longhorns lost redshirt junior wide receiver Joshua Moore to the transfer portal back on Nov. 8.
Adeoye originally joined the Longhorns as part of the 2018 signing class. He was one of the higher-rated blue-chip commits in that 2018 class. Coming out of IMG Academy High School, Adeoye ranked as the nation’s No. 119 2018 high school prospect, No. 6 inside linebacker, and the No. 23 prospect out of Missouri (247Sports Composite).
There were bits and pieces of three seasons that Adeoye actually got some level of playing time for Texas. But really the only season where he took a significant number of snaps with the Longhorns was during his redshirt freshman campaign in 2019.
In his three years playing for Texas, Adeoye registered 62 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and two pass breakups. He only played in bits and pieces of four games for Texas this fall, taking around 75 snaps on defense.
Wherever Adeoye lands next, he could still have two or three years of eligibility remaining depending on if he was able to get an exception for a medial redshirt season.
Here’s a look into three potential landing spots for Adeoye out of the portal heading into the offseason.
