If Texas does want to get help at the tight end position out of the transfer portal entering the offseason, it should definitely start with the former Oklahoma blue-chip standout and junior Austin Stogner. Two big seasons for Stogner with the Sooners looked like it could amount to a seriously impressive senior campaign.

In the last two seasons, while dealing with some injury issues too, Stogner registered around 600 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. There is a very valid connection for the Longhorns to go after between first-year special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and Stogner from his time getting recruited out of Prestonwood Christian in Plano, TX, during the 2019 cycle.

Banks was one of the top recruiters from the Alabama Crimson Tide pursuing Stogner during his recruitment. Thus, you would figure that the Texas coaching staff is jumping all over this opportunity to pick him up in a spot ready to make an immediate impact.

But that doesn’t look to be the case after he has now been in the transfer portal for a little more than 24 hours.

I won’t so far to say that Stogner is a must-get target out of the transfer portal for Sark, Banks, and the Longhorns. It just makes so much sense that Stogner would land with Texas than most of the other schools pursuing him right now. Some other potential landing spots for Stogner includes the Ole Miss Rebels, Florida State Seminoles, South Carolina Gamecocks, and even the Crimson Tide.
