Jaydon Blue, RB

It’s easy to forget that, at one time, the talented four-star Texas running back commit and Klein Cain product Jaydon Blue was one of the top prospects at his position in the nation. In fact, it wasn’t all that long ago that Blue was one of the top two running backs in the entire country in the 247Sports and ESPN recruiting rankings.

Yet, it didn’t help Blue that he wound up sitting out the entirety of the 2021 high school football season at Klein Cain in terms of his recruiting ranking. That is likely something that the current Texas coaching staff could take some positives away from, though.

Blue will be coming onto the Forty Acres with fresh legs, and likely no recent high school injuries to worry about. That is key if he wants to enroll early and have any sort of sizable role with the Longhorns as soon as next fall.

In terms of what Blue can do to help Texas recruit Ewers, it’s pretty easy to see. Blue and Ewers could play together for a long time on the Forty Acres. And the raw talent that Blue brings to this backfield is something that should appeal to Ewers coming out of the transfer portal.

Texas Tech does have four-star athlete/running back commit Maurion Horn in their 2022 class. But Texas Tech’s backfield doesn’t come close to comparing to the strength that Texas’ does between the likes of star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson, junior Roschon Johnson, redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson, freshman Jonathon Brooks, and now Blue.

This is something that Blue can harp on as he could become a critical skill position weapon for Ewers on the Forty Acres.
