There are some good signs emerging about what could lie ahead for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the 2022 Texas football recruiting class as we are just around one week away from the start of the Early Signing Period. Texas is looking to start putting the finishing touches on the 2022 class with the Early Signing Period beginning on Dec. 15.

One of the biggest areas of need in the Longhorns 2022 class is along the offensive line. This is why the week ahead is such a big one for Sark and first-year offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood. Sark and Flood are set to have multiple key in-home visits with top targets of the Longhorns 2022 class in the next week or so. Many of them are offensive line prospects too.

A name to watch heading into the Early Signing Period in relation to Texas is the touted four-star Todd Beamer (WA) offensive tackle Malik Agbo. Texas looks to be trending in the right direction with the 6-foot-5 and 320-pound Agbo at the right time.

The four most recent expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions in for Agbo have his commitment trending to Texas over the rest of the field. And all of those expert Crystal Ball Predictions came in on Dec. 7.

Texas football moving in the right direction with 4-Star OT Malik Agbo

There looks to be plenty of momentum in place now for the Longhorns in the final stretch run of Agbo’s recruitment. Texas actually visited Agbo in his home state of Washington last week and that looks to be some sort of a home run result for the coaching staff in the days since then.

Agbo also visited Texas officially during the weekend of the game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, back on Oct. 16. While Texas did lose that game in disappointing fashion in the midst of another blown second-half lead, it looks like the coaching staff still made the right impression with Agbo coming out of that weekend.

The other schools that are still involved heavily in the recruitment of Agbo are the Oklahoma Sooners, Auburn Tigers, and Miami Hurricanes. But coaching changes in the last week with Oklahoma and Miami both could’ve set them back in pursuit of Agbo’s commitment.

This would be a big one for Flood and new special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks to close on as Agbo’s top recruiters. Texas needs more help along the offensive line in the 2022 class than likely any other position group.
