The biggest matchup of the regular season to date for new head coach Chris Beard and No. 7 ranked Texas basketball lies on tap on Dec. 9. Texas is set to take on the No. 23 ranked Seton Hall Pirates on the evening of Dec. 9 on the road as part of the Big 12-Big East Battle.

This is the second ranked opponent that Beard and the Longhorns will face so far in the regular season. The first came last month against the No. 1 ranked (at the time) Gonzaga Bulldogs and head coach Mark Few on the road. This could be an opportunity for Texas to really prove how good they are against a team that has a solid resume behind them already this season.

Seton Hall already has a road win this season over the No. 4 ranked Michigan Wolverines, which came back on Nov. 16 by the narrow final score of 67-65.

Texas basketball has a trio of guards that still need to pick up the pace

Texas is playing well right now, but not all of the pieces are clicking out of the gates this season. Since Texas is around halfway through the non-conference slate, there are some players that need to step up soon. What better time to do that than against a quality opponent like Seton Hall?

Through eight games this season, Texas is sitting on a record of 6-1 (0-0 Big 12) after a 88-58 win over UTRGV on Dec. 3. Texas will be put to the test in two of their next three games as they take on Seton Hall later this week and then the Stanford Cardinal at a neutral site on Dec. 19.

Here’s a look at three players who have a slow start to the season for the Longhorns that need to pick up the pace in December.
