A huge weekend for head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class continued on through the afternoon of Dec. 12. Texas got some much-needed help in the 2022 recruiting class along the offensive line this weekend in the form of a pair of former Oregon Ducks commits.
Sark, Flood, and the Longhorns first landed a commitment from the former Oregon and Oklahoma State Cowboys pledge/the elite five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks. Texas landed the commitment of Banks on Dec. 11, giving the Longhorns their 22nd prospect in the 2022 class.
And then, the Longhorns continued their momentum along the offensive line by landing a commitment from the fellow former Oregon pledge and three-star Duncanville offensive tackle Cameron Williams. Texas is now up to four offensive line commits in the 2022 class, now just a couple of days ahead of the Early Signing Period.
Texas football keeps the momentum rolling on the recruiting trail on Dec. 12 by landing 3-Star OT Cameron Williams
Texas is catching a wave of momentum at the biggest area of need in the 2022 class at the right time, with the Early Signing Period looming large on Dec. 15. Texas needed more bodies along the offensive line heading into this critical week on the recruiting trail.
And that’s exactly what Flood and the Longhorns were able to do during a big visit weekend in Austin on Dec. 11 and 12. Getting the commitments from Banks and Williams also gets the Longhorns one step closer to locking in a top 10 class in the nation for this cycle.
According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 7 in the nation and in the top spot in the Big 12.
After hauling in the commitments of Banks and Williams this weekend, who’s next for the Longhorns 2022 class? Here’s a look at four names to watch ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period in a couple of days.
