Predicting Texas’ next transfer portal addition after QB Quinn Ewers
Mycah Pittman, WR
There is so much excitement (and rightly so) surrounding all of the success that Texas is having recruiting along the offensive line and at the quarterback position in the last week or so. But there still needs to be a focus on the wide receiver position in the 2022 class and out of the transfer portal given some of the lack of depth with this group heading into the offseason.
This is why I believe a name to watch early on this offseason in the transfer portal for Texas could be the former Oregon Ducks talented redshirt sophomore wide receiver, Mycah Pittman. Texas offered Pittman coming out of high school back during the 2019 recruiting cycle. And there are plenty of connections between the current Texas coaching staff and Pittman.
When special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks was still on staff under Nick Saban with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he was one of the top recruiters after Pittman. Banks and Pittman had a tight connection during his recruitment in the 2019 cycle. This could be something that is revitalized with Texas this offseason.
Texas only has one wide receiver commit in the 2022 class at the moment. And if Texas doesn’t get four-star Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield back in the 2022 class, Sark will need more bodies with this position group.
Pittman is a speedy and elusive 6-foot and 200-pound wideout that could play out of the slot for Texas. In three years at Oregon, Pittman registered 38 catches for nearly 550 receiving yards (14.4 yards per catch), and two touchdown catches.
