What looks to be the first target of the Longhorns 2022 class on the first day of the Early Signing Period that is worth watching is the current Oklahoma Sooners commit and underrated three-star Arlington-Seguin athlete/wide receiver Xavion Brice. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex product Brice announced his top three schools for his decision on the morning of Dec. 15 to be Oklahoma, Texas, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Brice looks to be a take for Sark and the Longhorns in the 2022 class if he does intend to flip his commitment from Oklahoma to Texas on Dec. 15. But there’s no guarantee that Brice is set to move his commitment away from new head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners on the first signing day.

It is worth Texas getting Brice in the 2022 class to add another versatile athlete that is likely to play at the wide receiver position. Texas had Brice on campus for an official visit on Dec. 10, the weekend after he had an official visit with Texas Tech on Dec. 3.

Texas and Oklahoma are likely the top two schools in line to get a signed National Letter of Intent out of Brice. Texas Tech is in the running, but most of the smoke is hanging around the Red River rivals right now.

A lot of this for the Longhorns could hinge on what happens with the former Texas commit and four-star Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield. Texas saw Winfield de-commit from the 2022 class in the midst of the regular season finale win over the Kansas State Wildcats. That didn’t seem to sit well with Sark and this staff and for good reason.

Yet, that move from Winfield might be enough for the Texas staff to want Brice over him on the first signing day.
