I guess we’re essentially going in the order of the targets of the Longhorns 2022 class that are currently committed elsewhere in terms of the time that they’re announcing on the first day of the Early Signing Period. Texas is really pushing for the next target of the 2022 class on this list.

Four-star Ohio State cornerback commit and Little Elm product Terrance Brooks is clearly on Texas’ radar of late. I do feel very confident in saying that the decision for the DFW Metroplex product Brooks is going to come down to the Buckeyes and Longhorns.

While it doesn’t look like there’s much of any chance for Texas to land their two highest-rated cornerback targets on the first signing day, Brooks is definitely worth following. Some of the smoke coming out of this recruitment essentially puts this decision at a coin flip between Ohio State and Texas.

Texas clearly is gaining some traction with Brooks. And with his camp to talk this decision over on the night of Dec. 14 to prepare for his Dec. 15 announcement, the anticipation is now building for what’s to come.

Flipping the commitment of Brooks from Ohio State to Texas would be an immeasurable win for the 2022 class. Cornerback is definitely one of the more underrated positions of need in the 2022 class. Texas can turn some of the priority away from the transfer portal, and get some talent to build from the ground up if they get Brooks from Ohio State.
