Predicting Texas’ next 2022 commit after 4-Star OL Neto Umeozulu
Terrance Brooks, CB
The one potential commitment to watch that the Longhorns could flip for their 2022 class is the talented and potent four-star Ohio State Buckeyes pledge and Little Elm cornerback Terrance Brooks. Texas has stayed in the thick of this recruitment until Brooks puts pen to paper to sign his National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period this week.
But with the start of the Early Signing Period a little more than 12 hours away, the decision is going to come soon from Brooks. It seems like Texas has essentially worked itself neck and neck with Ohio State ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period in pursuit of the commitment of Brooks.
This is good news for the Longhorns to even put themselves in the race for Brooks. But it doesn’t look like anyone will be involved in the decision for Brooks other than Texas and Ohio State.
I don’t know how confident I am to say that Texas is sitting with more than a coin flip’s shot to flip the commitment of Brooks. But it’s hard to know exactly where Brooks is at by now. What we can say is that Texas has a lot of momentum with Brooks by building this relationship up of late. Texas has definitely stayed persistent in this recruitment.
According to a 247Sports report (paid content), Brooks’ camp is set to meet on the day before the Early Signing Period (Dec. 14) to discuss the final decision he’ll have in place to sign with either Ohio State or Texas. This is certainly one to watch on signing day this week.
