Texas CB Ishmael Ibraheem slapped with charges from OSU PD
Someone involved with the Texas football program got involved in more weird off-the-field news this fall, according to a report from hookem.com on Dec. 14. Freshman Texas cornerback and former four-star recruit Ishmael Ibraheem reportedly was charged for violating the state of Oklahoma’s revenge porn law this week.
Here’s more on what this report from hookem.com has to say on the matter of Ibraheem violating this new Oklahoma law.
"The investigation originated in Payne County, Okla., on Sept. 1 when the student reached out to Oklahoma State police. She told police she received a screenshot from a TikTok video depicting her and Ibraheem having consensual sex in the summer of 2021, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the American-Statesman.The woman told police she did not want anyone to see the video and that it was intended to be kept private. Ishmael sent her a message saying he had “unsent” the video sent to another person who did not view it.Based on the evidence provided by the woman, OSU police filed a misdemeanor charge of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images. It’s a specific charge stemming from an Oklahoma state law that went into effect in November 2016 regarding revenge porn, defined as someone sending explicit content of another person in a vengeful way."
There was reportedly an Oklahoma State University student that reached out to the OSU Police Department after Ibraheem sent her a screenshot of a sexually-explicit TikTok video. The Oklahoma State student also reportedly “did not want anyone to see the video” since it was “intended to keep private”.
Texas football CB Ishmael Ibraheem reportedly charged by OSU PD this week with a warrant out for his arrest
This apparently traces back to an Oklahoma state law that was first enacted in Nov. 2016 concerning the use of explicit content to harm someone else in a “vengeful way”.
The hookem.com report also mentions that a warrant is out for Ibraheem’s arrest from OSU PD.
According to a report from KXAN Austin on Dec. 14, this Oklahoma state law is classified as a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1,000. Multiple reports also note that the University of Texas was notified of these charges and Ibraheem is suspended from all team activities now.
This all comes while the university and football program are monitoring the legal situation with Ibraheem to see how it plays out.
Ibraheem is a former four-star recruit that signed with the Longhorns 2021 class out of Dallas-Kimball High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He committed to Texas back in June 2020, and would later sign to join the Longhorns officially on National Signing Day 2021.
The only snaps that Ibraheem got with the Longhorns came in the non-conference win at home over the Rice Owls back on Sep. 11. Ibraheem took nine snaps with the Longhorns this fall, three on defense and six on special teams.
