The results coming along the offensive line right now in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class are nothing short of spectacular. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood are scorching hot on the recruiting trail right now bringing in more blue-chip talent at the biggest position of need in the 2022 class.

In the last 72 hours, the Longhorns have now landed commitments from two blue-chip offensive tackles and three offensive tackles in total. After the Longhorns brought in a commitment to the 2022 class from the touted four-star Allen offensive tackle/IOL Neto Umeozulu late in the night of Dec. 13, Texas is now up to five total commits from offensive linemen in the mix.

Texas also landed commitments from the likes of the elite five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks and three-star Duncanville offensive tackle Cameron Williams over the weekend. The pair of former Oregon Ducks commits already proved to be a huge boost to the 2022 class.

Adding a commitment from Umeozulu just brings more positives in the Longhorns 2022 class one day ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period.

Umeozulu dropped the news of his commitment on his Twitter timeline late in the night of Dec. 13. That made him the third offensive line commit literally in a span of three days for the Longhorns 2022 class.

And more could be coming soon for the Longhorns along the offensive line. When it’s all said and done, Texas could be looking to take on seven offensive line signees in the 2022 class. Texas is definitely still seeking out commitments from the elite five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell and four-star Todd Beamer (WA) offensive tackle Malik Agbo ahead of, or during, the Early Signing Period.

Moreover, we can’t gloss over the importance of Texas getting an in-state commitment from a talented blue-chip offensive lineman such as Umeozulu. Texas landed the commitment of Umeozulu over competing top schools such as the Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, and Alabama Crimson Tide.

It was hard to read where Umeozulu would end up when it was all said and done, but Texas was squarely in the mix of late.

This was huge for Flood to be able to close on this commitment for the Longhorns 2022 class.

So what does Umeozulu bring to the table for the Longhorns? The 6-foot-4 and 285-pound Umeozulu could project as a guard or offensive tackle for the Longhorns. He’s got a powerful frame and a good motor off the line of scrimmage.

Umeozulu is a lengthy and athletic offensive lineman with a ton of power that is also extremely versatile. Flood and the Longhorns could have him continue to work on sealing the edge and holding up the pocket if they want him to play at one of the tackle spots.

Or the staff can work on bulking Umeozulu up and taking advantage of his finishing ability in run and pass blocking and his immense power off the line and play him at one of the guard spots.

Umeozulu is going to be one of the more touted NFL Draft prospects in all likelihood among whatever offensive line commits the Longhorns end up with in the 2022 class. He’s only got room to grow from here and he will be an extremely versatile fit right away for this group.

Texas just landed their second-highest-rated commit along the offensive line in the 2022 class with Umeozulu. He ranks as the nation’s No. 143 2022 high school prospect, No. 7 interior offensive lineman, and No. 23 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).
