Xavion Brice, ATH/WR

One of the more versatile potential takes for the Longhorns early in the first signing day this week is the current Oklahoma Sooners commit and three-star Arlington-Seguin athlete/wide receiver Xavion Brice. Texas could either slot the 6-foot-1 and 175-pound Brice in the defensive backfield or in the receiving corps.

And a lot of that could depend on whether the Longhorns land a commitment from either five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris or four-star Little Elm corner/Ohoi State commit Terrance Brooks. It does sound like Texas has a better shot of landing Brooks on the first signing day than Harris. But both are certainly a possibility for the Longhorns.

Moreover, Brice remained committed to the Sooners since July 4, 2021. But he started to explore his options after the now-former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley bolted from Norman to take the head coaching job with the USC Trojans a couple of weeks ago.

Brice now has a top three listed that include Oklahoma, Texas, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Oklahoma and Texas appear to be the realistic top two here, but you can’t count out new head coach Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders completely.

With the earliest decision time of any of the key targets that have planned announcements on the first signing day, Longhorns fans will have to be up pretty early in the morning to catch Brice’s commitment/signing.

This could still be a potential big get for Sark and the Longhorns in the 2022 class. Brice is a versatile prospect that looks to be a strong take now for Texas.
