Predicting every commitment for Texas during Early Signing Period
Malik Agbo, OT
One of the more exciting potential additions in the Longhorns 2022 class on the first signing day is the touted four-star Todd Beamer (WA) offensive tackle Malik Agbo. The west coast footprint that Sark and this Longhorns coaching staff have could be put on display by landing a commitment from Agbo on the evening of the first signing day.
Heading into last weekend, it looked like maybe the most confident commitment that Texas had ahead along the offensive line was Agbo. But the narrative has greatly shifted since then, in a good sense, as Texas has landed three other offensive line commits.
Agbo should still be considered a really high priority target for the Longhorns 2022 class, despite landing the likes of Umeozulu, Williams, and Banks, since the start of last weekend.
The decision of Agbo will boil down to his four finalist schools in the Auburn Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma, and Texas. At the moment, Texas looks to be the pretty heavy favorite. It wouldn’t surprise me too much if a school like Oklahoma makes a spirited late run at Agbo given the news that offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh stuck around in Norman following the Riley departure.
It feels like the main factor that could shake the confidence in the commitment from Agbo to the Longhorns would be the numbers along the offensive line in this class. If Texas is also looking to eventually haul in a commitment from the five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell ahead of National Signing Day 2022, that might be something to shake Agbo. But I still think it’s very likely he ends up with Texas.
