Predicting Texas’ next 2022 commit during the signing period
Kendrick Law, ATH
While he is one of the quietest blue-chip prospects of this recruiting cycle, the talented four-star Captain Shreve (LA) athlete Kendrick Law is certainly one of the most sought after by top programs on the trail such as Texas. Law is set to make his decision later this week. Knowing that Texas has some momentum with him in the last couple of weeks, it’s important to follow his decision as it relates to the Longhorns.
According to a report from Inside Texas this week (paid content from the On3 Network), the contact that Texas had with Law most recently was earlier in the week. Texas is pushing hard with this one. And the indication could be that Texas only has two wide receiver commits in the 2022 class since they have the opportunity to take on a commitment from Law.
I would have confidence in the fact that the Texas coaching staff would rather take a commitment at this point from Law over the former Longhorns commit and four-star Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield. There was a point on the first signing day where it looked like Winfield would land back with Texas. But he wound up committing to the Baylor Bears at day’s end.
I’m not saying that the fact that Winfield landed with Baylor on the first signing day is a perfect indication that Texas will land Law. There’s no guarantee here. But if it ends up being the case that Texas beats out the likes of the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide to land a commitment from Law, it would mean that the coaching staff might’ve taken his pledge over Winfield’s.
