TCU

Depending on how much Wiley prioritizes staying close to home with his next landing spot out of the transfer portal, another program to watch to potentially pursue him is TCU. Fort Worth is also very close to home for Wiley, and there is the potential for him to get some immediate playing time while staying in the Big 12.

TCU is also one of those schools that is pretty needy at the tight end position right now. With Dykes taking over as the next head coach for the Horned Frogs in the wake of the departure of their longtime former head coach Gary Patterson, this makes a lot of sense for Wiley to land in Fort Worth.

Dykes relies more on solid blocking tight ends that can also be a threat in the receiving game at times, which is a role that Wiley could fit well. He would probably be a better scheme fit with Dykes and his staff in Fort Worth than he was with Sark and the Longhorns this fall.

Similar to the case for SMU right now, TCU is short on numbers in their 2022 recruiting class. Tight end is a position of need this offseason for the Horned Frogs. Dykes and his staff have connections with Wiley from his recruitment. And he should be familiar with TCU and Dykes’ system after getting recruited by SMU out of high school and facing the Horned Frogs three times while playing for Texas.

If Wiley wants to stay in the Power Five, or more specifically in the Big 12, the Horned Frogs might make more sense than really anyone else. I would watch out for this potential landing spot, especially since Wiley would face Texas on the other sideline in 2022 if he lands with the Horned Frogs out of the transfer portal this offseason.
