4-Star Texas ATH target Kendrick Law trending to Bama on decision day
Maybe the biggest decision to watch for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class during the Early Signing Period this week comes on the afternoon of Dec. 17 with four-star Captain Shreve (LA) athlete Kendrick Law. As one of the highest-rated remaining uncommitted targets on the board for Texas in the 2022 class, Law is an important decision to watch heading into the weekend.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff already had a massive signing period in terms of additions to the Longhorns 2022 class since the start of the festivities back on Dec. 15. Texas had five additions to the 2022 class since Dec. 15, highlighted by three important flips on the morning of the first signing day.
But there’s still a need for the Longhorns heading into the offseason to add depth to the receiving corps. Texas has one blue-chip wide receiver commit in the 2022 class at the moment, which is four-star Spearman (TX) wideout, Brenen Thompson.
Texas is likely going to find a way to add depth to the receiving corps this offseason either by way of the 2022 signing class or the NCAA Transfer Portal. And if the Longhorns can snag a commitment from Law on Dec. 17, it would go a long way to help this depth issue sitting with Sark and his offensive staff this offseason.

The indicators for the decision of Law aren’t looking great for Texas at the moment, though.
The three most recent expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions project Law’s commitment to land with the Alabama Crimson Tide over the likes of Texas and the LSU Tigers. And the Rivals FutureCast has their six most recent projections from their analysts and publishers indicating that Law will commit to Alabama.
Texas sits in a group of top schools for Law’s decision heading into the weekend that also includes Alabama and LSU. But it looks like Alabama is starting to pull ahead of the rest of the field a few hours ahead of Law’s announcement time on Dec. 17.
It also wouldn’t surprise me all that much if Law were to make a last-minute decision to commit to LSU. Throughout much of his recruitment, LSU was the favorite to land this highly-touted blue-chip product out of their own state.
At this point, it would be pretty shocking to me if Law did commit to Texas. There was a potential indicator that Texas could be trying to make room for Law in the 2022 class when four-star Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield committed to the Baylor Bears over the Longhorns and Michigan State Spartans earlier this week.
But there was no guarantee that meant Texas was trending to land the commitment of Law. It would just make sense if the mutual interest was there between the Longhorns coaching staff and Law.
Texas isn’t looking great right now with some of their top wideout targets on the week of the signing period. Law is likely to take his talents elsewhere. And Texas also missed out on the likes of four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston, Winfield, and five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart this week.
