4 best transfer landing spots for former Texas QB Casey Thompson
TCU
At this point, it looks like the first landing spot that is going to come to mind for Thompson after putting his name in the transfer portal heading into the weekend is with new head coach Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs. The former SMU Mustangs head coach has some ties on his coaching staff with Thompson.
TCU has also played Thompson when he was the Texas starting quarterback this fall.
I mentioned before that, with the familiarity that former Texas transfer junior tight end Jared Wiley has with TCU and this staff, it makes sense that Fort Worth could be a though for multiple ex-Longhorns this offseason. Texas already saw one former player on this team land in Fort Worth out of the portal this offseason in former blue-chip recruit and freshman linebacker Terrance Cooks.
It would only make sense that Thompson would consider the Horned Frogs when pondering his next landing spot out of the transfer portal.
Moreover, there is already one expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Transfer Prediction in place for Thompson to land in Fort Worth with the Horned Frogs out of the portal this offseason.
The Newcastle, OK, native could still stay close to home if he landed with the Horned Frogs out of the portal this offseason. He is also familiar with what Fort Worth and this new coaching staff could potentially bring to the table for him.
Thompson has already proved that he is very capable of being one of the better starting quarterbacks in the Power Five when healthy. If TCU is looking to open up the quarterback competition along with the likes of Max Duggan and Chandler Morris this offseason, it would be sensible to at least get in contact with Thompson.
