The top target left on the board for the Longhorns 2022 class ahead of National Signing Day is the elite five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell. This top in-state product is one that the Longhorns were likely hoping to get a commitment from during the signing period that is now behind us.

The fact that Campbell drew out his decision beyond the first signing period isn’t great for the Longhorns. But he is narrowed down to two top schools now, Texas and Oklahoma. Texas has a clear goal with this recruitment too. If offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood can prove that Texas offers Campbell the better opportunity compared to the Sooners, they’ll win out on this recruitment.

Texas consistently was the school that built the best relationship with Campbell. And a combination of other factors that includes the success that the Longhorns found in the 2022 class of late along with the recent institution of the new NIL program for Texas offensive linemen that pays the ones on scholarship $50,000 annually, there are certainly plenty of reasons for Campbell to come to the Forty Acres.

I would still peg Texas as the frontrunner in the race between two schools to land a commitment from Campbell. Flood and the Longhorns just have to close this one in the weeks ahead.

Texas already has a huge wave of momentum that came their way along the offensive line in the 2022 signing class in the last couple of weeks. Signing the likes of five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, four-star Allen OL Neto Umeozulu, and Agbo, was huge for the Longhorns and could continue to help this wave of momentum that the Longhorns 2022 class found on the trail of late.
