3 potential replacements for Texas WR coach Andre Coleman
Lonnie Galloway, UNC wide receivers coach
A potential under-the-radar candidate that I would consider for the Texas wide receivers coach job opening is the fourth-year North Carolina Tar Heels wide receivers coach Lonnie Galloway. As one of the better recruiters among wide receivers coaches in the ACC right now, Galloway definitely looks to be an intriguing candidate for Texas.
Galloway remained the UNC wide receivers coach since the 2018 campaign. He’s spent his entire time in Chapel Hill under former Texas head coach Mack Brown.
There are also a number of other FBS stops that Galloway had on his way to becoming the UNC wide receivers coach back in 2018. Prior to landing that job with the Tar Heels, Galloway was the co-offensive coordinator for a few years with the Louisville Cardinals.
He’s also served as the wide receivers coach with the West Virginia Mountaineers, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and East Carolina Pirates during his run in the college football coaching ranks in the last two decades.
If you look back on the recruiting track record for Galloway, he’s found and developed some real gems in his time as a wide receivers coach in the FBS. He’s recruited the likes of West Virginia star wide receiver David Sills V, recent UNC four-star commit Andre Green Jr., former blue-chip Jovon Durante, elusive star Tavon Austin, and fellow former West Virginia standout Gary Jennings Jr., among many others.
Having one of the more impressive track records of late of any ACC wide receivers coach, who also has a lot of success on the recruiting trail with UNC, is something that Texas should pay attention to in regards to Galloway. This should be a consideration given the impact he could have on this receiving corps in the next couple of years.
