We are now officially through the first 10 games of the regular season for new head coach Chris Beard and the No. 17 ranked Texas basketball team. Texas hasn’t really lived up to expectations so far, but the start to the regular season isn’t a complete letdown either in Beard’s first year at the helm in Austin.

There has to be some level of patience with Beard as he gets this Longhorns team ready to compete during a crucial Big 12 slate in the month ahead. Texas still has a few non-conference games remaining on the slate, but two of the most important opponents are already behind the Longhorns.

This is where the main problem for the Longhorns through the first 10 games of the regular season comes into play. Texas hasn’t lived up to expectations against ranked competition in two tries so far this season.

Texas basketball still getting valued contributions from some of their bigger transfer additions from the offseason

The No. 1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs took down the Longhorns in Spokane, WA, last month. And the No. 23 ranked Seton Hall Pirate took down the Longhorns on the road again this month.

Texas needs to right the ship against ranked competition if they truly want to live up to the hype this season. And one way to do that will be to continue to ride the solid play of some of the top additions that Beard and the Longhorns had out of the NCAA Transfer Portal last offseason.

Some of those top transfer portal additions are already playing really well for Texas. Here’s a look into three of the recent transfer additions for Texas shining through the first 10 games of the regular season.
