Texas targeting 3-Star Georgia WR commit Dillon Bell
While it seems like the big board is essentially set for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the 2022 Texas football recruiting class post-Early Signing Period, there are always new targets that could pop up. That looks to be the case with Texas right now as there are some leading indicators that the coaching staff is placing some priority on the three-star Kinkaid School wide receiver and Georgia Bulldogs commit Dillon Bell.
This Houston-area native remained committed to Georgia since early August. But he was one of the few 2022 Georgia commits that didn’t sign his National Letter of Intent during the first signing period last week.
That, along with some other indicators, would give the idea that Bell’s recruitment could still be open. And that appears to be the case with how he’s listening to the pitches that some other competing schools are making to him of late.
Georgia landing four other wide receiver commits in their 2022 recruiting class could also be playing a role in Bell hearing out other pitches from competing schools on the trail. Georgia was taking blue-chip wideout commits up until a few days ahead of the first signing period last week.
That is evident in the fact that the Dawgs landed a commitment from four-star Mt. Dora wideout Chandler Smith on Dec. 14.

Moreover, it appears that one of the schools getting in contact with Bell right now is Texas. According to a report from the On3 Network this week (paid content), Texas is one of a few schools in contact with Bell right now.
The other schools to reportedly watch here are the Florida Gators, Michigan Wolverines, and Houston Cougars. There are obviously some big schools in on the recruitment of Bell now.
Bell has reaffirmed lately that he is still locked in with the Dawgs, but if he’s hearing other pitches Texas is likely going to stay involved. This is surely on recruitment to watch moving forward for the Longhorns considering the fact that they need help at the wide receiver position in 2022.
Texas could have an intriguing target in place here in the Georgia commit and in-state product Bell. He ranks as the nation’s No. 492 2022 high school prospect, No. 67 wide receiver, and No. 67 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).
