Texas lands its first 2024 commit in Aledo CB Jaden Allen
There are now commitments that Texas football has in their recruiting classes stemming from 2022 all the way through 2024 after some news that dropped on Dec. 29. Texas got the 2024 class off and running pretty early on with a commitment from the 5-foot-9 and 150-pound Aledo cornerback Jaden Allen.
The younger brother of four-star 2022 Longhorns safety commit and fellow Aledo product BJ Allen Jr., Jaden is helping to start a trend for this program on the recruiting trail of late. At some point for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 recruiting classes, the Longhorns had their first commit as a defensive back.
Texas’ first commitment in their 2023 class is the four-star Arlington-Seguin defensive back, Jamel Johnson. And at one point, the first commit in the 2022 class was Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau. BJ was also one of the early commits for head coach Steve Sarkisian, after he was hired by Texas to replace Tom Herman, in the 2022 class.

Moreover, Allen announced his commitment to the Longhorns via a post on his Twitter timeline on the afternoon of Dec. 29. He announced his commitment to Texas after getting six offers. The other five offers he had came from the Mississippi State Bulldogs, USC Trojans, LSU Tigers, Jackson State, and Illinois State.
Texas was actually the most recent school to send a scholarship offer Allen’s way. He received an offer from Texas on June 1, 2021.
What Allen brings to the table for the Longhorns is intriguing, but he obviously still has a while to go until he’s ready to take his talents to the collegiate level. At 5-foot-9 and 150-pounds, Allen definitely has some weight that he still needs to put on.
But Allen is certainly a gifted athlete that has great agility, speed, and ball skills. Allen is also a track athlete, who can run around an 11.7-second 100-meter time. His speed and refined footwork will need to carry the load for him as he works on his size and physicality off the line of scrimmage in the next couple of years.
The long-term impact that adding a commitment from Allen could do for the Longhorns 2024 class is immeasurable, though. Getting a commitment locked in this early on could mean Texas has a magnetic force that can recruit fellow high school prospects that this staff plans to go after.
This is also an important commitment that will help the Longhorns get off and running around the area of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. DFW is becoming a stronghold for Texas recruiting in the secondary of late.
Allen was one of four cornerbacks that had an offer from the Longhorns 2024 class as of Dec. 29. He’s also one of 25 offers in total that the Longhorns have sent out to 2024 prospects. Allen still doesn’t have a rating yet from any of the major recruiting services.
