One of the most recent offers to go out from the Texas football program to players in the NCAA Transfer Portal went to the former Wyoming Cowboys 6-foot-3 and 210-pound redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Neyor. Texas sent an offer Neyor’s way out of the transfer portal on Dec. 29, which he announced on his Twitter timeline.

Neyor originally put his name in the transfer portal on Dec. 22, which he also announced on his Twitter timeline. Since then, he’s received a plethora of Power Five and top Group of Five offers from notable schools around the country.

Texas actually looked to be one of the schools that got in on recruiting him out of the transfer portal pretty late. Neyor is already set to take visits with the likes of the Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, and TCU Horned Frogs, all of which offered him before Texas did.

This is still a wideout that Texas could win over, but they will face stiff competition in the process. With how fast things are moving in the transfer portal this offseason, Texas even getting in days later than some of the other top schools with Neyor could be a make-or-break factor.

Neyor is definitely one of the hottest commodities at the wide receiver position in the transfer portal right now. He’s coming off an excellent redshirt freshman campaign at Wyoming and could be an immediate impact player at most Power Five programs and top Group of Five schools around the country.

In the season that was for Neyor, he registered 44 catches for 878 receiving yards (20 yards per catch) and a dozen touchdown catches. He also racked up one touchdown on the ground.

The fact that Neyor could come in with three years of eligibility remaining is just a bonus for whatever school he takes his talents to next.

The goal at this point for the Longhorns needs to be getting Neyor to campus for a visit. Knowing that he’s already got a few visits set with schools that offered him before Texas did means that head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff need to move fast.

Texas is also facing an uphill battle with transfer wide receiver targets such as Neyor since they don’t have a wide receivers coach set right now. That could change soon, but this still presents some level of uncertainty with a highly sought-after transfer portal target at the position such as Neyor.

Given that the Longhorns have a sizable need at wideout, it would make more sense if they were pursuing transfer targets like Jacob Cowing and Neyor with more urgency. Maybe Texas is waiting this out for another portal target at the position, though.
