While it could be difficult to decipher at the moment what type of impact the hiring of the former Pitt Panthers wide receivers coach Brennan Marion could have for Texas football recruiting, it is nice to see this coaching staff adding some younger and more energetic personalities. Marion definitely looks to be one of the up-and-coming wide receivers coaches around the college football landscape.

And it was a great move by head coach Steve Sarkisian to make Marion the next Longhorns wide receivers coach early this offseason. This was the second big addition to the staff among the positional coaches this offseason. The other came last month with former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets running backs coach Tashard Choice replacing the departed Stan Drayton in the same role.

Texas brought Marion aboard to replace the recently let-go wide receivers coach Andre Coleman. After spending two years as the Texas wide receivers coach, Coleman looked to be on thin ice. He didn’t do a great job with some of his top assignments on the recruiting trail, and he was one of the last holdovers from the former regime under head coach Tom Herman.

Texas football could get some serious momentum on the recruiting trail after hiring Brennan Marion as WR coach/PGC

What Texas might be able to do after adding Marion to this staff could be coming in the next few weeks. With how much help Texas needs at wideout, I wouldn’t be all that surprised to see the staff move quickly to catch some lightning in the bottle after adding Marion to the mix.

Whether that be by way of the NCAA Transfer Portal or on the recruiting trail is also yet to be known. But it is sure that there are going to be some fruitful results ahead on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns with Marion in the mix in 2022.

Here’s a look into three key recruits for the Longhorns that were impressed by the hire of Marion as the next Texas wide receivers coach.
