Courtney Ramey and Andrew Jones are facilitating this offense as needed

While the big-time star for Beard and the Longhorns in this game was the former Pitt Panthers and Minnesota Golden Gophers point guard Marcus Carr, the play of two of the other Texas starters was also solid on this day. Texas got a solid outing from the senior duo of guard Courtney Ramey and shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones.

As one of the most underrated two-way players in the Big 12 to start off the season, Jones is playing some of the best basketball of his career thus far. And while he’s off to a bit of an inconsistent start against solid opposition this season, Ramey is also getting the job done more often than not thus far.

Ramey didn’t have the most efficient afternoon shooting from the field, but he was good from beyond the arc in particular. He finished up this game with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field, 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, and he didn’t have any attempts from the free-throw line. Ramey also gave the Longhorns four rebounds, three assists, no steals, no blocks, and one turnover.

Meanwhile, Jones gave the Longhorns 14 points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field, 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. He also came up with three rebounds, one assist, no steals, no blocks, and one turnover. Jones’s efficient afternoon shooting from the field, and being able to draw contract to get to the free-throw line, was a big factor in the Longhorns’ win.
