It seems like if head coach Steve Sarkisian is to make a move for the Texas football program on the recruiting trail during the month of January, it is likely to be for the 2023 class instead of 2022. Texas is set to see most of their top remaining 2022 targets on the big board announce around National Signing Day, which takes place in early February.

That leaves a heavy emphasis on Sark and the Longhorns staff getting some momentum rolling on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class during the winter month after the turn of the calendar year. And the good news here is the fact that the Longhorns have a plethora of targets that they’ve built solid relationships with for the 2023 class.

What top 5-Star recruits could soon be committed to Texas football?

Most of the top prospects on the board for the Longhorns 2023 class are likely to make a decision at least during the spring, if not later in the year. But there are some prospects that Sark and the Longhorns could catch a wave of momentum with in the winter given some of the solid connections they’ve formed in the past calendar year.

Texas caught a major wave of momentum on the recruiting trail in the first couple of months after Sark was hired more than one year ago today. It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Texas was able to get something similar going on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class in the weeks that lie ahead.

Here’s a look into three elite five-star recruits that the Longhorns could reel in during the month of January.
