Big 12 Football: 4 transfer landing spots for QB Caleb Williams
Crazy news emerged concerning a big-time star out of the Big 12 football conference with the Oklahoma Sooners freshman quarterback and former elite five-star recruit Caleb Williams putting his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal. On the afternoon of Jan. 3, the news officially came down that Williams will be exploring his options in the transfer portal after spending just one year in Norman.
Granted, it sounds like returning to Norman to continue his college career with the Sooners is still an option for Williams. That will likely hinge on how the other options stack up for Williams that he explores in the transfer portal in the weeks and months ahead. If he doesn’t find anything more appealing to him than the Sooners, then returning to Norman seems like the right move for him.

This now makes it both starting quarterbacks for the Sooners from the last two seasons that have entered the transfer portal this offseason. Sophomore Spencer Rattler entered the transfer portal and committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks and head coach Shane Beamer last month.
Now, it’s Williams’ turn to see what options are out there for him in the portal.
All of the roster attrition for the Sooners is coming thanks to the departure of former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley. A couple of months ago, Riley bolted from Norman to take the head coaching job with the USC Trojans. Rattler and Williams were both recruited by him and his staff with the Sooners. A lot of them are now with the Trojans.
Here’s a look at four potential landing spots for Williams after entering the portal on Jan. 3.
