With less than one month until National Signing Day 2022, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are soon to see the 2023 Texas football recruiting class come into full focus. Texas does still have some work left to do this month for the 2022 class. But a lot of attention is already going thrown onto the efforts on the recruiting trail by Sark and his staff for the 2023 class.

Sark and the Longhorns currently have one commitment in the Longhorns 2023 class with four-star Arlington-Seguin defensive back Jamel Johnson. But more should be on the way soon for the Longhorns given how much momentum they’ve built up on the recruiting trail for the 2022 class of late.

Texas is trying to put together a 2023 class that even one-ups what they have in the 2022 class thus far. There are still some positions of need Texas must address in the 2023 class, though, before they can get the marks needed to assemble a really solid group.

Top Texas football 2023 targets to watch on the recruiting trail in January

First and foremost, the Longhorns need to capitalize on the hires of new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion and running backs coach Tashard Choice. In the last few weeks, Texas brought a jolt of energy to the coaching staff with the additions of Marion and Choice.

I’ve about the potential of Texas capturing lightning in a bottle on the recruiting trail if they can get a commitment or two at least during the month of January in their 2023 class at either of these assistant’s position groups.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three key 2023 targets to watch for the Longhorns in January.
