On the afternoon of Jan. 8, head coach Steve Sarkisian and safeties coach Blake Gideon added to the 2022 Texas football recruiting class with another blue-chip prospect. This weekend at the All-American Bowl, Texas added a commitment from the touted four-star Bishop Alemany athlete/safety Larry Turner-Gooden.

The former Arizona State Sun Devils commit and California product Turner-Gooden also adds another blue-chip defensive back signee to the Longhorns 2022 class less than one month ahead of National Signing Day. Sark and the Longhorns staff have to be happy with where the 2022 class sits before the second signing period of this cycle.

Texas is now up to 27 signees in the 2022 class a few weeks ahead of National Signing Day. There are also 28 total commits in the Longhorns 2022 class. The lone commit that hasn’t signed yet with the Longhorns 2022 class as of the afternoon of Jan. 8 is the three-star Warren Easton cornerback Ronald Lewis.

Where Texas football will go next with the 2022 recruiting class after adding 4-Star S Larry Turner-Gooden?

But it now looks like Lewis could be a casualty of the Longhorns adding so many blue-chip defensive back signees to the 2022 class. Texas now has the likes of 4-Star Aledo safety BJ Allen Jr., four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau, four-star Denton-Ryan safety Austin Jordan, and Turner-Gooden signed down in the 2022 class.

Considering the fact that Turner-Gooden was one of the top remaining targets to watch for the Longhorns 2022 class on the board ahead of the second signing period, there’s not much left to watch for this cycle. But there is still a handful of remaining targets to watch for the 2022 class in the weeks ahead, including one really important prospect.

Here’s a look into the prediction of the next commitment for the Longhorns 2022 class after landing Turner-Gooden.
